The Hayes Environmental Work in the Wairarapa

Taumata Lagoon is a historic and outstanding oxbow lagoon with a water area of approximately 12-hectares. Whilst there is no documented history it
seems likely that the lagoon was naturally created several hundred years ago. There are many striking features about Gretel Lagoons & Taumata Lagoon; such as, 200+ indigenous mature kahikatea and 100+ mature totara - numerous indigenous mature tawa, matai, mairie, kowhai and titoki, an
outstanding oxbow lagoon, together with the numerous bush birds and an abundance of waterfowl.
